Laura Denvir Stith becomes Chief Justice of Missouri Supreme Court - July 1, 2007 - Laura Denvir Stith becomes Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court effective July 1, 2007.  Stith is the second woman to hold that position.  Ann Covington was the first woman to become Chief Justice on the Missouri Supreme Court.  She was Chief Justice from 1993 to 1995.  Stith joins eighteen other women who are currently the Chief Justice on their state's Supreme Court.
