First woman President in Chile, Michelle Bachelet, is sworn in - March 11, 2006 - On Saturday, Michelle Bachelet was sworn in as the first woman President of Chile.  Condoleezza Rice was present for the ceremony, representing the US.  President Bachelet has already made history by appointing equal numbers of men and women to more than 250 top jobs in the government.
